NAWBO Greater Detroit
National Association of Women Business Owners

Purpose
The NAWBO Public Policy committee is responsible for promoting the interest of women business owners before the city, state and federal government and the private sector. The committee also reviews and recommends national and state legislation, which may be of interest to members of the Chapter. This committee also educates NAWBO members about the political process, development of their advocacy abilities and encourages their active participation in public and private sector policy making at all levels.

Mission
The mission of the NAWBO Public Policy Council is to drive positive change for women-owned businesses through Education, Grassroots Action, Coalitions and Advocacy.

When the Public Policy Council considers federal issues, particularly those in proposed or pending legislation or regulations, the Council seeks a Yes to the following questions before voting support:

1. Will the issue encourage job creation, innovation, and economic growth for women-owned businesses?
2. Will the issue (proposed legislation or regulation) foster entrepreneurial diversity?
3. Will the issue make government increasingly user-friendly and more effective in meeting the needs of entrepreneurs?
4. Will the matter result in good public policy that is in the national interest?
5. Will the matter improve America's global competitiveness?
