NAWBO Greater Detroit

Governance

It is now time to solicit nominations for the 2008-2009 NAWBO Greater Detroit Board of Directors. The nomination committee is co-chaired by Judith Latcha and Nipa Shah with Sue Funk, Janet Bires and Robin Thompson serving as committee members. The committee has made it very straightforward for you to submit nominees for Board positions.

Nominations, including self-nominations, are welcome for the NAWBO Greater Detroit Chapter Board of Directors.  The term for which nominations are being sought begins at the June 12, 2008 Annual Meeting and will run through the Annual Meeting in June 2010.

The Nominating Committee will nominate only enough new directors to complete the board.  This year we will be filling eight (8) director seats.  Kathleen Alessandro, Nancy Brownrigg, Angela Dodd, Patricia Henry Poyle, Ruth Johnson, Nipa Shah and Miriam Muley were elected to two-year terms running through 2009.  The remaining board members can be re-nominated for a 2 year term provided they have not already served the maximum consecutive terms allowable by our bylaws.

This year Ronia Kruse, President Elect, will not continue on the board, and therefore, leaves an opening for the President position.  As a result, the position of President along with all of the Executive Committee positions will be filled from the qualified Directors elected by the membership.

Qualifications: NAWBO Greater Detroit members who have been members for at least one year are eligible to serve as Directors.  Those interested in an officer position must first be elected as a Director and shall have served as a member of the Board of Directors within the past three (3) years or have equivalent experience and have been actively involved in the association.  The President Elect shall have served on the Board of Directors and have been an active chapter member in good standing for a minimum of four years.  Click here to view the Board responsibilities, duties and time commitments.

At this time, the nomination process has ended.  Nominees will be notified individually.  Our sincere thanks to those who made nominations and to those who considered serving NAWBO Greater Detroit.
