Dear NAWBO Sisters,

We hope that you and your families had a relaxing holiday weekend as we remembered those who proudly serve to allow us to enjoy our freedom!

What an exciting week we had from May 21-27. We were honored to be selected to partner with Volvik LPGA at Travis Pointe Country Club! On Tuesday May 22nd, NAWBO –Volvik LPGA Luncheon: “Fore! Success Principles in Golf and Business” was held to assist in launching a wonderful week! As an official partner with Volvik LPGA, their media initiatives included announcing our partnership and a  dedicated  press release. We were also provided exposure on the official website,  in the Tournament Program  and signage and more! Our program included keynote speaker and author Anne Doyle, and a panel with LPGA professionals Brittany Lincicome and Paula Creamer, WDIV's Rhonda Walker and our own Tanya R, Allen! Post Lunch included a golf clinic with our LPGA pros! This is an example of the broad marketing and exposure that we are committed to achieve for GDC and take our chapter to the next plateau!

We have mentioned at several events throughout the year that one of our goals is to build new relationships both with our membership at large as well with new resources! Our Ladies Over Lunch has proven to be a great success and is assisting in awareness of our mission. We are excited to announce that we have confirmed our collaboration with Davenport University. This is a wonderful opportunity since it will provide our members and their families with discounted tuition and custom programming click here for more information.  We will be providing a date later in the summer for us to meet and become familiar with the benefits available to all!

It is hard to believe that this will be my last President’s Message to you, our valued members and sponsors! My very first letter shared my commitment and dedication to not only carry on the legacy of my predecessors, but to develop the foundation for the year of Innovation, which I translated to leadership! It was and will continue to be my goal to assist each NAWBO sister to create her own path of success. It has been an incredible honor to serve each and everyone one of you! They say it “Takes a Village” and I have been fortunate to have by my side an outstanding NAWBO-GDC Board of Directors. My deepest appreciation to our newly created Corporate Advisory Board (CAB)  who offered tremendous support and mentorship as we progressed through the year. Our collaborative efforts have moved our chapter forward and provided a foundation for growth and “Innovative” opportunities

I will remain on the board for another two years, first serving as Immediate Past President and then the second year as a Director. This will offer me the opportunity to support the new board and assist with a smooth transition. As always, I am committed to supporting our sisters that I always hold dear to my heart as we work to build new and exciting initiatives.

Please join us at our President's Reception on June 6 at the Skyline Club to welcome our new 2018-2019 President, Priscilla Archangel, and meet your 2018-2019 Board comprised of new and returning members and honor those retiring who have dedicated their efforts towards the success of our chapter. Kieara Johnson is an entrepreneur, explorer and, like everyone else, sometimes her phone dies at inconvenient times. It was so bad, her family used to tease her consistently about how terrible she was at keeping her phone charged so, along with her husband they came up with an idea for a solution. In 2016, Kieara co-founded Charge Bot, where she proudly serves as CEO and Project Manager.

Today the company is growing at a rapid speed becoming a premier full-service digital advertising firm through public cell phone charging solutions. Charge Bot has earned widespread recognition and awards, including MichBusiness “Sustainability” award in 2017. Through hard work and dedication, Charge Bot is becoming a preeminent player in the public cell phone charging industry.

Kieara received her undergraduate degree in Business Management and Computer Information Systems at Marygrove College and earned her MBA at the University of Phoenix. She also serves on multiple boards of directors of corporations and charitable organizations.

When she is not making sure businesses customers stay charged so they can stay connected, she can either be found at home playing board games with her husband and five children or she can be found flying in the sky on her way to another family vacation.
